What’s a gal got to do to get a funding story placed in 2025?

It’s no secret our beloved TechCrunch - who we normally go to for a coveted funding round - is changing. There has been a revolving door, layoffs and a clear shift on original reporting vs. a focus on funding stories. Mary Ann Azevedo - who is the absolute GOAT and one our favorite reporters to work with- sat down with us to share intel on what’s really going on with TechCrunch and what she’s looking for in her reporting. Here’s what she told us:

1) It seems like TC is doing fewer funding pieces, does TC have new top level direction around what funding gets covered vs. not? For the past few years, we have been encouraged to focus more on funding rounds that are exclusive to TC. If 20 pubs are covering the same raise, it's far less appealing.
