We owed you this newsletter on Thursday, we know this. But in all fairness, more and more important stuff kept happening that we wanted to add. We couldn’t keep up! It’s still happening, but we just need to SHIP IT. So without further ado, your ā€œgood things come to those who waitā€ addition of On Background…

Thank you ApplešŸŽ

Are we nerds for being this excited about an iOS update? You can now access transcripts for Apple Podcasts on your iPhone. The caveat is that you can only access through the Apple Podcasts app if you have iOS 17.4.Ā Here are the times we’re going to use this:

  • Capturing all client mentions (or competitors) in podcasts without needing to listen.

  • Understand if a certain thing came up during a convo that a spokesperson had.

  • Researching relevant podcasts to pitch by better understanding the convo on past episodes.

  • Pulling quotes to share with the team or for social, without having to pause and transcribe.

Places to pitch ⚾

We got a lot here — from top reporters posting in our favorite format, the Google Form, to brand new publications. This section in itself is sure to keep you busy this week. Here are people and places to pitch:

  1. WSJ: Deepa Seetharaman is a tech and AI reporter that now runs a mailing list when she sends out source requests. You can sign up at this link!
