New Intel from Eric Newcomer, Tanya Dua, + Polina Pompliano
Plus: NYT Corner Office is back, Lenny launches a new pod + Henry Blodget launches a new pub
🚨 This week’s all Tanya, but quick PSA from your other writer (we alternate), Emilie ! I’m hiring at my agency,Six Eastern. Looking for B2B PR folks who love media relations and getting in the weeds. We’ve got a few roles open so if you’ve got 2–8 years of experience, shoot me a note at emilie@sixeastern.com.
This week, M13's Christine Choi, Axios Communicators' Eleanor Hawkins, and I (Tanya) hosted a founder event, where we interviewed some of the biggest journos in the game to find out how they’re thinking and reporting in today’s new media landscape. We got a ton of intel and we’re sharing it all below.
Our overall takeaway? Every single reporter we interviewed spoke on the power of community and having an engaged audience. Most are sourcing ideas of what to cover directly from their readers. If you want in with any of these writers, subscribe and build a relationship organically - comment on their reporting, etc. Approach pitches as a reader, not just a publicist.

Polina Pompliano, Author of The Profile:
What to pitch: Founders or execs with underdog stories or reinvention after setbacks. Focus on human stories with a lesson learned, tying to her “Built from Scratch” series. Recent founder interviews have included CAVA and Ezra.
How to pitch her: She gets a lot of ideas for who and what to cover from her readers. Subscribe to her newsletter, engage with her content, and email as a reader. Build a relationship before pitching.
