A dash of SXSX, a dollop of Fortune CIO, and a sprinkle of Digiday Tech Awards 🤌
Plus, juicy flavorful deets on a paid interview opp -- for the first time *gasp!*
We rarely enter into the territory of “paid media” — except when we uncover a high value, highly relevant opp you should know about. Ding, ding, ding, we have one! We recently caught up with Big Technology's Alex Kantrowtiz (you might know him from CNBC, Buzzfeed, Forbes). Turns out he does 30-min sponsored interviews on YouTube. Such a smart way to get your exec on the same channel as the CEOs of Robinhood, Intel, Box, and ServiceNow. Check out this one he did with the CTO of Priceline to get a sense of what it looks like (really good!) I was pleasantly surprised by the $5K price tag. If that Q1 budget is burning a hole in your pocket, I’d consider. Email alex@bigtechnology.com to get in touch.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programing.
Let’s start with a few things we’ve been debating. When you coordinate with media, do you convert all times to the reporter’s time zone for them? We’re split over here, but one colleague swears by World Time Buddy, an incredible resource if you're working across multiple time zones, especially internationally.
Here’s what sparked the debate:
Another hot topic: “trendbait” (as tweeted below). Does a trend not count as a trend if a PR person flagged it first? Just because a PR person is bringing it to the attention of media, doesn’t mean they invented or manufactured it. Some media seem to disagree. End of rant.
Next up: 3 places to pitch ⚾
We got an all-star lineup of Fortune, Axios, and The Atlantic, all eagerly awaiting your pitches. Okay, maybe “eager” is a stretch, but when a reporter solicits pitches it’s time to give it a swing. As someone that only goes to games for the Dip N Dots (rare), that’s the end of sports analogies for today.
